Recognition and thanks are due to Jeanne Brown for all her hard work, professionalism, and attention to detail in the program and local arrangements. The conference was a fantastic event thanks to Jeanne’s leadership and commitment.
We presented our second Winberta Yao Travel Award this year to Jenna Johnson, from The Phippen Museum, Prescott, Arizona. Jenna received an award of $350.00.
The chapter voted to continue to donate $200 annually towards the expenses of the Welcome Party at the next ARLIS/NA conference in St. Louis. We will also continue to donate a chapter basket to the Silent Auction at the ARLIS/NA conference in St. Louis. Nancy Pistorius has volunteered to organize members’ donations into a basket, as she has done the last couple of years.
Next year’s conference will be held in Cody, Wyoming, the last state of the chapter to be visited. Since the formation of the Mountain West Chapter, we have tried to meet in every state of the region. Other suggestions for future conference sites included a possible joint meeting with the Texas/Mexico Chapter (perhaps in El Paso, Texas), and an invitation from Nancy Pistorius to meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A great portion of our business
meeting was devoted to the discussion of having ARLIS/NA in Las Vegas in
2005. Jeanne Brown led a discussion on the topic and Patricia McRae
made a colorful presentation on what Las Vegas has to offer in terms of
accommodations, attractions, and possible programs for the conference.
The membership voted to make the proposal official in 2002 and to submit
it to the ARLIS/NA Executive Board. After meeting in Las Vegas as a chapter,
several members felt more comfortable about hosting a national conference
there. Jeanne Brown did a wonderful job in organizing a great program and
putting so much effort in every detail of the conference. Several
members volunteered to participate in the local arrangements of a future
national conference.
